Legal
Terms of use
These terms govern your use of dltaustria.com, the website of Distributed Ledger Technologies Austria — a non-profit association (gemeinnütziger Verein) registered in Austria under ZVR 1525722335.
1. Scope
These terms apply to your use of this website and to the services offered directly through it: our newsletter, the contact and chat functions, online membership applications, event registrations and donations.
They do not govern membership itself. The rights and obligations of members follow from the association’s statutes (Vereinsstatuten) and from the Austrian Associations Act (Vereinsgesetz 2002). Where these terms and the statutes differ, the statutes prevail.
2. About the association
DLT Austria is a non-profit association. It does not operate for profit, and it does not distribute surpluses to its members. Its purpose is education, networking and the promotion of distributed ledger technologies in Austria. All activities of the association are carried out voluntarily by its members.
3. Using the website
You may read, use and share the content of this website for personal and informational purposes. You may not:
- disrupt or overload the website, its servers or the services connected to it;
- use automated means to extract content in a way that impairs operation;
- use the website to transmit unlawful, harassing, deceptive or infringing material;
- use the contact, chat or newsletter functions to send unsolicited advertising;
- remove or obscure copyright notices or other proprietary markings.
4. No professional advice
Content on this website — including our guides, glossary and event materials — is provided for general information and education. It is not legal, tax, financial or investment advice, and it is not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any crypto-asset. Distributed ledger technologies and crypto-assets carry substantial risk, including the total loss of the amounts involved. Please obtain independent professional advice before making decisions, and note that regulatory requirements — for example under MiCA — depend on your specific circumstances.
5. Content and intellectual property
Texts, graphics and other materials created by the association are protected by copyright. You may quote and link to them with attribution. Any other reuse — in particular reproduction, modification or commercial exploitation — requires our prior written consent.
Logos, trade marks and images of our members, partners and speakers belong to their respective owners and are shown with permission. They may not be reused on the basis of these terms.
6. What you send us
This website has no user accounts and no upload function. If you send us material — through the contact form, the chat, by email or as a speaker contribution — you keep all rights to it. You grant us only the limited, revocable permission we need to process your request and, where that is the purpose of your submission, to publish the material in the agreed context. We claim no further rights.
7. External links and third-party services
This website links to external sites and uses third-party services: payments run through Stripe, the newsletter through Brevo, event registration through platforms such as Luma, Eventbrite and Meetup, and the chat assistant processes your messages through an external language-model provider. We have no influence over the content or practices of those providers and accept no responsibility for them. Details of the data processing involved are set out in our privacy policy.
The chat assistant can be wrong. Please do not rely on its answers for anything that matters, and do not enter confidential or personal data into it.
8. Membership
Membership is applied for through this website or by email, and comes into effect when the board admits the applicant. There is no entitlement to admission. Current membership fees are shown on the membership page; the statutes and the general assembly govern how fees are set.
Right of withdrawal for consumers. If you are a consumer and conclude a paid membership or a paid event registration through this website, you may withdraw within 14 days of conclusion, without giving reasons and without cost. A message to office@dltaustria.com is sufficient; sending it within the period is enough to meet the deadline. Amounts already paid will be refunded without undue delay.
Membership otherwise runs for the period set out in the statutes and may be terminated in accordance with them.
9. Donations
Donations are voluntary contributions to the association’s purpose. They are not payment for any service and confer no membership rights, no entitlement to a particular use of the funds and no claim to repayment. If you donated in error or in an incorrect amount, contact us and we will resolve it.
Whether a donation is tax-deductible depends on the association’s status under § 4a of the Austrian Income Tax Act (EStG). Please contact us if you need a confirmation of your donation.
10. Events
Most of our events are free; some are ticketed or reserved for members. Places may be limited, and we may have to change or cancel an event — in that case any fee paid is refunded, but we do not reimburse travel or accommodation costs.
Photographs and recordings are often made at our events. We indicate this on site and respect objections. If you do not wish to appear, please tell the organising team before the event or contact us afterwards.
Participants are expected to behave respectfully. We may exclude anyone from an event whose conduct harasses others or disrupts the event.
11. Availability
The website is operated on a voluntary basis. We aim to keep it available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted operation and may suspend or discontinue individual functions.
12. Liability
We prepare the contents of this website with care, but we cannot guarantee that they are complete, accurate or current, and we are not liable for decisions taken on their basis.
We are liable without limitation for injury to life, body or health, and for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence. Liability for slight negligence is excluded, except where it concerns obligations essential to the purpose of the agreement; in that case liability is limited to the damage typically foreseeable. Mandatory statutory liability — in particular under the Austrian Product Liability Act — remains unaffected.
13. Data protection
How we process personal data is described in our privacy policy. Our provider details are set out in the imprint.
14. Changes to these terms
We may amend these terms where a change in our activities or in the law requires it. The version published here at the time you use the website applies. Substantial changes affecting members are communicated separately.
15. Applicable law and jurisdiction
Austrian law applies, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.
If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings at the court responsible for your place of residence. We will bring proceedings against you only there.
If you are an entrepreneur, the courts with subject-matter jurisdiction in Vienna, Austria, are competent.
16. Severability
If a provision of these terms is or becomes invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions is unaffected. The invalid provision is replaced by the statutory rule.
